Honolulu 5K

Honolulu 5K, a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation, was formed in an effort to help provide Hawaii’s schools physical fitness, play and athletic programs with additional funds in hopes of keeping our children healthy and active.

The inaugural Honolulu 5K event was held on May 1, 2011 in Downtown Honolulu and consisted of approximately 1,800 participants that represented 135 schools, a few of which included our neighbor islands. The top 5 participating schools for 2011 were –

Kaimuki Middle School                                      $2,190.00

Maryknoll Grade School                                     $1,600.00
Hongwanji Mission School                                $1,303.00
Wilson Elementary School                                 $1,030.00

Maui 5K

The Maui 5K was recently created in conjunction with the Honolulu 5K to help the schools within Maui County to also benefit from this event. The inaugural event was held on April 22, 2012 at the Ma’alaea Triangle.  The proceeds and donations from the Maui 5K were distributed back to the schools participating in the event. The top 5 participating schools for 2012 were:

 Run For Fitness

In January 2015, the Honolulu 5K was renamed to Run For Fitness and it remains a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
